Why is it that in one country 80% of the people carry organ donor cards, but across the border it’s only 20%? Why do restaurants list a ridiculously expensive bottle of wine on their list when they never expect to sell a bottle of it? And how is that one simple sentence added to a letter made lots more people submit their tax returns on time.

Welcome to the fascinating world of Behavioural Economics and Nudge theory, the unconscious biases that affect human decision making. We live in a world of choice and are being bombarded with more choices like never before. Behavioural scientists have studied this and have discovered two remarkable things. One, that we’re more than likely to act irrationally when making a choice than logically. And two, that when we’re overloaded with options we default to heuristics, or mental shortcuts, to make our decisions for us.

In this fascinating series of webinars you’ll learn how to apply behavioural science thinking to your business and how to communicate more persuasively with your customers. What’s more, you’ll find out how to do it in an ethical fashion that doesn’t manipulate people but helps them arrive at good buying decisions.

The course is based on the 6 basic Yes triggers of persuasion that affect our buying behaviours and the work of Dr Robert Cialdini, author of the best-selling Influence, the Psychology of Persuasion.

What you’ll learn:

Week 1: Reciprocity and Liking, where you’ll learn how in business to give is to receive, and that we’re heavily influenced by people who we recognise as being like ourselves.
Week 2: Scarcity and Authority, where you’ll learn how to create interest and value through scarcity, and how we’re hardwired to respond to views and opinions we recognise as coming from authority figures.
Week 3: Consistency and Social proof: where you’ll learn that people like to act in accordance with expressed views and previous actions, and how we’re herd animals and are more likely to follow the thoughts and actions of others than act independently.

Plus, there will be bonus sessions on loss aversion. the psychology of price, FOMO (fear of missing out) and how to apply it correctly, and much more.

How it works:
The course is made up of 3 x 2 hour webinars and is based on the three Es of effective training which are Example, Explanation and Exercise. Examples demonstrate that the principles work. Explanations create understanding. And Exercises drive the learning home on the principle that what we’re told we forget but what we do we understand.
