At the beginning of this year, Livvy joined us here as a member of The_Track. As a Lite member, she coworks with us once a week (or sometimes she splits this into two half days, which we LOVE, because it means we get to see her twice during the week!) and gets to use our super-fast WiFi, network with her fellow coworkers, and utilise the fully-kitted out kitchen – not to mention her welcome cuppa, the perfect addition to the chilly days we’ve been having.
Being the ray of sunshine she is, she agreed to give us a small insight into how she became a singer-songwriter, why she uses The_Track, and some cheeky extras inbetween!
How did you become a singer-songwriter?
Oh my word….It was quite a journey! I had had some serious struggles in my 30’s which left me feeling like I’d never be able to perform again. But the universe had other ideas! I randomly met a bassist at a gig and after a little dutch courage I sang one cover song by U2 with his band. He loved it and to cut a long story short he set up a band with me called FUNKY JUNCTION.
I was super scared but over time my confidence grew and here I am today, 10 years later, with over 300 gigs under my belt! In terms of songwriting I’d always loved writing poetry so it wasn’t a huge leap to become a songwriter. But it took a while for that to happen, until I started working with a blues guitarist called King Rollo. He really nurtured my ambitions as an artist, and encouraged me to set up my own band called RUBY & THE REVELATORS in 2015.
Unfortunately, in 2018 just one year after releasing our debut album in 2017, the band broke up which was a huge blow. I’ve now regrouped, and whilst most of the work I do is still as an acoustic duo (with my co writer and guitarist Stefan Rajic) I now have a new band line up for 2023 which is really exciting!!
What made you start to cowork from The_Track?
Working from home wasn’t really working tbh! I was struggling to focus and not being productive enough. It’s also quite isolating and I loved the lightness and sense of space at The Track.
What’s your favourite part of The_Track?
The camaraderie and networking! Also most members are really friendly plus I get so much more done which is the most important thing.
